It is always difficult to be certain of a charge before checking the individual site maps for each enquiry, as each one requests different search areas and data. However, it is possible to set out some charges for standard data searches with certain sized buffers. Please note that final charges will be set by BRERC once we are in possession of a map of the search area, and we reserve the right to charge for any given enquiry.
Please be aware that any charge is not a charge for the data provided, but for the time and expertise needed to perform searches.
If your site (without buffer) is less than 0.5km in area or less than 0.5km in length (for linear sites) then the following basic charges will apply:
For charges involving bigger buffers, please contact us.
For sites larger in area or longer in length than 0.5km, the basic charge is multiplied depending on the size of your site, thus:
For charges involving larger areas, please contact us.
Each distinct site will be treated as a separate enquiry for purposes of charging. For example, an enquiry sent to us that asks for a full standard search for two separate 0.3km long sections of railway embankment, each a with 0.5km buffer, will be charged at £180 (2x £90).
Requests for specific bat searches beyond the normal specified buffer zone are now charged at an additional £75, to reflect the increasing amount of extra work we have to undertake for such requests. Bat records, roost records (where not confidential) and designated sites related to bats will all be included in any extended bat search.
Other extended searches (for example the inclusion of non-notable species) will be charged at our own discretion.
If you require more than one copy or reprints of maps, these are charged at £1 per map.
If you require a quick turnaround we may be able to prioritise your enquiry, subject to our workload and a 25% surcharge.
Please note that, as stated before, BRERC will make the final decision on charges imposed for any given enquiry.
