This is the inverse of the above item. This search will only include species that are common and have no protection or legal status.

This involves provision of PDF copies of relevant reports from our Biological Location Information Site System paper archive. There is a fair amount of species data contained in this archive that has not been entered onto our database for historic reasons. We search within 0.5km of your central site for the purposes of this item. Should you wish us to extend the paper search to a larger buffer size, this is possible but may incur an extra charge.

Many enquirers require an extended search for bat records (including bat roost records at a 1km resolution) beyond their standard buffer area. This item allows that; please indicate the buffer size you require on the ESAF.

Sites of Nature Conservation Interest (known as Wildlife Sites in North Somerset) are non-statutory designated sites that are protected through inclusion in the Local Plan. Collectively known as Local Sites, they are also sometimes referred to as SINC's or County Wildlife Sites elsewhere in the country. Regionally Important Geological/geomorphological Sites are non-statutory designated sites that are protected through inclusion in the Local Plan. They have the same level of protection as SNCI's/Wildlife Sites. These are another example of 'Local Sites'.

A Local Nature Reserve or LNR is a statutory designation made under Section 21 of the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949 by principal local authorities in England, Scotland and Wales. We provide maps of the sites within our region.

Sites of Special Scientific Interest. These are nationally designated sites. They are downloaded from Natural England and made available to enquirers. BRERC 'adds value' to the mapped information by adding information from the citation sheets for every site.

Special Areas of Conservation. These are European designated sites. These are downloaded from Natural England and made available to enquirers.

The RAMSAR convention's official title is 'The Convention on Wetlands of International Importance, especially as Waterfowl Habitat'. The convention was developed and adopted by participating nations at a meeting in Ramsar, Iran on February 2, 1971 and came into force on December 21 1975. SPA stands for Special Protection Area and is a European designation. These are downloaded from Natural England and made available to enquirers. We group them together as in our area the site boundaries are very similar and in most cases identical.

UK BAP Priority habitat maps, indicating land parcels which are one of the 65 habitats which have been listed as priorities for conservation action under the UK Biodiversity Action Plan. The maps are based on the SW NBN Pilot project that was completed back in 2004, with additional info added by BRERC where available and/or appropriate.

The South West Nature Map shows the best areas to maintain and expand terrestrial wildlife habitats at a landscape scale.

These are sites that ONLY OCCUR IN THE CITY OF BRISTOL. They are not designated but often includes areas of green space and natural habitat that link one or more SNCI's.

Digitised linear watercourses where evidence of Water Voles has been found. These are colour coded according to the year of survey.

We have plotted the locations of Japanese Knotweed, Himalayan Balsam and Giant Hogweed and can provide maps of the locations of these invasive species within your search area.

Tick the elements of the search you require on the Enquiry Search Agreement Form, along with the buffer size you require, and any additional buffer size for a bat search. Write this cost in the space provided. Fill in any other details, and sign and date the form.

If you require a quick turnaround we may be able to prioritise your enquiry, subject to our workload and a 25% surcharge.

Please note that, as stated before, BRERC will make the final decision on charges imposed for any given enquiry.
