How to Join the Avon Flora Group

And an idea of what you can do to contribute

Avon Flora Group (AFG) is concerned with recording wild plants in the former Avon area. If you are interested in this group of species, and would like to learn more about them, where they occur in Avon, and how to see them and submit your sightings to BRERC, then please consider joining the group.

Although the distribution atlas, 'Flora of the Bristol Region' was published in 2000, there is still much work to be done and valuable information to be gathered. The gathering of plant records at six figure grid references is one such task, and is something virtually anyone can contribute to. Other tasks include the gathering of data concerning the distribution of 'invasive aliens' – plants such as Japanese Knotweed and Himalayan Balsam.

We are keen to encourage people both young and old, and of any experience, to join this group and play an active role in determining the status and distribution of flora across the Bristol region.

Visit our Contacts page and click Join One Of Our Groups to send an e-mail requesting to join.

See our Guide to Submitting Records for advice on how to send records to us.
