BRERC Dragonfly Recording Pack - Zipped PDF file
We are pleased to announce that the Dragonfly recording pack is now available to download for free.
The file is quite large so we have zipped it to compress the file size. You may need an unzipping utitlity such as Winzip or WinRar to access the file. The pack itself is a PDF file so you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print it.
This pack was designed by a former member of staff (Vicky Hale) and has had several tweaks over the years to keep it up to date. It should be usable by members of the public who are new to dragonfly recording. It opens by explaining a little bit about BRERC and what we do and then goes on to explain what dragonflies and damselflies are, about their anatomy, life-cycles, flight periods and how to record them. To help identify the different species there are simple flow chart keys and illustrated notes. There are also tips for managing your garden pond for dragonflies and recording forms to start you off.
In the next few years, BRERC will be publishing a new atlas ‘Dragonflies of the Bristol Region’. We hope that this pack will help encourage the recording of these beautiful and fascinating creatures, so that the records can be included in the atlas.
